What is a SteamID?

Every Steam account has a unique, permanent identifier that games, servers and services use to recognise a user. This identifier exists in several equivalent notations, and which one is expected depends on the game, server tool or API. Our Steam ID Finder automatically detects which format you entered and instantly converts it into all the others.

Which SteamID formats exist?

The finder supports all common formats as well as profile links:

Format Example Commonly used for
SteamID (classic) STEAM_0:0:94498451 Older Source servers, RCON/ban tools, GoldSrc
SteamID3 [U:1:188996902] The status console command, modern server tools
SteamID64 76561198149262630 Steam Web API, databases, trade/bot tools
Custom URL steamcommunity.com/id/name Freely chosen, readable profile link
Profile URL steamcommunity.com/profiles/… Fixed, numeric profile link (SteamID64)

How do I find my own SteamID?

Whichever format you have at hand, just paste it in above and the finder returns all other notations plus a direct link to the Steam Community profile.

Frequently asked questions about the Steam ID Finder

Do I need to install anything?

No. Converting between SteamID, SteamID3 and SteamID64 runs entirely in your browser. Only resolving a custom URL and loading the display name and avatar require a short request to the official Steam Web API.

What is the difference between SteamID and SteamID64?

Both describe the same account. The SteamID (classic, STEAM_0:Y:Z) is the historical notation from GoldSrc and the early Source engine, while the SteamID64 is the 17-digit number used by the modern Steam Web API and most current services. The two can be converted into each other mathematically.

Does the conversion work for private profiles?

Yes. Converting between the ID formats is pure maths and needs no access to the profile itself. However, the display name and avatar cannot be loaded for private or restricted profiles.

Is my input stored?

Input is only passed on to the official Steam Web API through our server to resolve custom URLs and to load the display name and avatar. The result is cached for at most one hour to reduce load on the Steam API; no permanent profile or usage history is created.
